Acomplia will no longer be available within the EU and Prima-med has now suspended all prescriptions for Acomplia. The MHRA has not issued official instructions asking patients, currently taking Acomplia, to stop, however patients who wish to stop taking Acomplia can do so at any time. If you have decided to begin taking Acomplia there are some important things to bear in mind, our Acomplia advice: When used correctly and in conjunction with a calorie reduced diet and regular exercise, Acomplia will lead to significant weight loss in obese patients. Acomplia attacks and reduces a person's urge or craving to eat more, by creating a feeling of false fullness, however there is more weight loss advice to bear in mind, it can never be as easy as popping a pill.

Take Correct dosage

The usual dose is one 20mg tablet to be taken once daily in the morning before breakfast. Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush it or dissolve it.

Don't overdose, allow it time to work

Take only the recommended dose. Taking more will not help you lose more weight. It will increase your risk of side effects.

Beware of Side effects

There can be side effects with Acomplia, as there is with all medicines. It is important to consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the listed side effects.

Patients who start experiencing symptoms of depression should consult their doctor immediately.

Make Lifestyle Changes

Acomplia will only work if you change your lifestyle also. You need to start and continue a reduced calorie diet and a physical activity program to get best results. Your doctor should recommend the type of diet and the level of physical activity required, that suits your specific condition and overall health.

To rule out obesity you don't need to take extreme steps. Losing weight doesn't require dieting over and over again to lose a few pounds. Instead, it is a long-term goal and needs lots of patience. A new approach will also ensure that you maintain your new weight once you stop taking Acomplia. Here's come basic weight loss advice

  • Avoid soft drinks, fruit juices, and sports drinks, they are loaded with sugar
  • Eat at least five servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
  • Avoid fast - food restaurants. If you can't, try to pick healthier choices
  • If you want a snack, try carrot sticks, a piece of fruit, or a piece of whole - grain toast instead of processed foods like chips and crackers
  • Eat when you're hungry, not when you're just plain bored or feeling depressed
  • Eat breakfast every day - make sure your breakfast is healthy and does not include fried foodstuffs
  • Watch carefully the portions of the food you eat
  • Eating while watching TV results in eating more then you need to eat - avoid watching TV during meals

Find Encouragement & Support

Make reasonable goals and tell them to someone who will keep you accountable. Often just knowing someone will get on your case a little if you are not following through on what you said can be enough motivation to keep you moving towards them.
